Our new house and neighborhood!

I’ve been meaning to post our exciting news for more than a week now! We closed on our new house, August 31st and officially moved in the next day! Our wonderful real estate broker, Jeff Stegelman, gave us a fantastic welcome home present when we got our keys too. 14192779_801614616202_7604192074068755785_n Of course, we were so excited that we started moving immediately!  14114851_801231484002_8661578154322334531_o  By the end of the day, we had all our paintings, fragile boxes, and our cats. Luckily, our new mattress had arrived, so we didn’t have to sleep on the floor. 14212111_801700618852_666590438002579445_n On September 1st, the movers brought our heavy furniture and the remainder of our boxes. 14141855_801716641742_2176219268717903231_n Our adventurous kitty, Lily, has enjoyed finding new hiding spots and checking out all the rooms and sun spots. 14264078_803160094052_3422694360935904502_n 14183797_802566832952_3319162069535543274_n Lyra is a little more cautious but loves looking out the windows. 14317502_803160089062_4097689655652241671_n We unpacked all our boxes within a few days of moving in and our house is really coming together! We’ve really enjoyed our new rooftop. 14233266_802578843882_6919173865163836833_n We just got a new hammock for two, as well! 14322391_803160143952_6465231377998772023_n Lily even tested it out with us! 14264971_803160138962_8397450657141136394_n

Some of our other favorite features are the quiet neighborhood, fantastic water views, 14264187_803295682332_2636525481731716283_n  and the amazing kitchen. 14225405_802626538302_5066006294840173706_n Mr. F made my favorite the other night, grilled lamb, salad with creamy Moroccan preserved lemon vinaigrette and Charles Smith Wine, the boy! 14231305_803354579302_3038526232319987640_o We’re looking forward to getting to know our neighborhood more and enjoying the sunsets from our roof. We’ve definitely become homebodies and love spending all our time at home now, especially since the weather trend is more fall-like. We went swimming in the Sound today and it was fierce. It was a clear day and almost 70 degrees, but it was breezy and the water felt a lot colder than a few weeks ago. Even when we went on Saturday, the season has already changed and it was harder to warm up on the beach. image Luckily, we also enjoy long walks around the North Beach/Blue Ridge neighborhood, and we walked all the way to Carkeek Park and back over the weekend (almost 9 miles). There’s a neat trailhead through Blue Ridge to this amazing park. I highly recommend, to everyone in Seattle, to discover new trails through Carkeek! image It’s phenomenal to experience the Seattle on a sunny day, especially on the Sound! image

Happy Anniversary to the Fettbots

I’m back on the blog and in the city. Mr. F and I had a fantastic week of food for our anniversary!

This time a week ago, I had some flex time at work so we went paddle boarding mid-day! 11781630_744953989552_3144658921567849893_n It was the perfect weather and very little wind. We went to dinner at Joule where we had wonderfully seared octopus! 10955321_744954548432_2648654508483333812_n  Last friday, we checked out our favorite pizza spot, Delancey, with our friend, Kelly! 11782483_10102948382804048_3493444789919014028_o Mr. F and I haven’t been eating many simple carbs recently so the pizza was a big deal and an awesome treat. The white pie with ricotta, Zoe’s sausage and padrons may have been the best pizza I’ve ever had! 11105204_745119393082_7480890961241033014_o As if these meals weren’t spectacular enough, we went to Art of the Table for our anniversary dinner. It’s also in our neighborhood and very walkable. 11779953_745189218152_7017799219283008336_o On Saturdays, they have an amazing tasting menu and we loved every course, especially the duck foie gras with a poached peach, the Lummi island spot prawns, wild king salmon with eggplant and not to mention the lemon curd donut.

On Sunday, Mr. F made a picnic lunch and we took the ferry to Lopez Island. 11846735_745415429822_1145407087689804980_n We had fun swimming in the Pacific Ocean,11800277_745281892432_2870789443803870951_n (1)hiking,11794470_745663946792_1639333162658848791_obiking, and drinking great wine we brought with us in celebration.11802755_745663896892_4909764269445901459_o 11846756_745736172052_4541709067138893763_n  Today, we plan on paddleboarding, swimming and going wine tasting for our staycation!

Happy 7th wedding anniversary, Mr. Fettbot! 11846603_745223599252_8233005214982167103_n

Our birthday month was marvelous

Time is moving so quickly! It’s been over a month since I last blogged and almost a month since my birthday! image While Mr. F was out of town the first two weeks of February, I celebrated my birthday early with my parents, grandparents and uncle at one of my favorite Italian restaurants, Agrodolce. I love all their pastas! The night before my birthday, Mr. F was back in town and we went to a champagne pairing dinner at the Whale Wins with our good friend, Mohit! One of the best dishes was the trout! image On my actual birthday I had teleconferences that started at 6 am so by the time it was lunch, I thought a piña colada image was in order at my favorite lunch place, La Isla! It was a perfect birthday treat. The day got even better as we celebrated image my birthday dinner with our good friends, Kelly, Patrick and Mohit at Brimmer & Heeltapimage February was so great because I didn’t have to travel much and we had so many great meals celebrating us! On Valentine’s Day, Mr. F made delectable egg pasta carbonara. image The next night we celebrated again at How to Cook a Wolf with my parents, grandparents and uncle. Tootie and I love Italian food.

On Mr. F’s birthday, Mohit joined us again and we shared a fantastic bottle of Bionic Frog! We also went to a fun small plates restaurant, Manolin image down the street from us.

image We celebrated Mohit’s birthday with a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island! We had a great lunch near the ferry and walked to Bainbridge Organic Distillers two miles from the ferry docks.image It was gorgeous weather and hard to believe it was 60 degrees on the last day of February. image image To top off our wonderfully indulgent month, we had dim sum before my trip to Los Angeles. While we were eating humbao and potstickers, a small dragon parade went by! image As if my birthday month couldn’t get any better, I was upgraded to First Class to and from Los Angeles, saw a great friend for lunch and a yoga session, plus I got to relax in the Alaska Airlines Board Room in LAX AND I sat behind a celebrity on the way back!!

Sunny Seattle Wintery Weather!

Seattle has been in the 30s and 40s in the last two weeks. Mr. F has started making more hearty dishes like several variations of roasted chicken, image duck for the first time, and lots of amazing soups.imageOne of our favorite fall salads has roasted beets with image goat cheese or ricotta. imageIt goes well with everything too.

Earlier this week, Mr. F made a miso, radish, spinach soup with poached eggs, andimageon Friday, a Moroccan, harissa, cabbage, tomato and egg soup.image It was the perfect amount of spice balanced with cumin and ginger. Mr. F makes it look so easy too! You may be able to tell that we love poached eggs and Mr. F also makes an amazing salad with chorizo and parmesan!imageThey’re so fluffy!!!

This weekend we enjoyed the sunny and cold weather with walks along the Everett Marina docks, image image walking around our neighborhood, image and surprisingly we saw a lot of ice! image

Tonight, Mr. F made another winning dinnerimagewith lamb, cabbage, celery, olives, preserved lemons, carrots, onions, turmeric, cumin, cinnamon, salt and pepper, beef stock, sweet vermouth, harissa, garlic, parsley, mint, and a new discovery, bread cheese.imageIt went wonderfully with Two Vintners Syrah!

I’m so glad my husband is an amazing cook because I burn water. Last weekend, I accidentally made a raw Angel Food cake for a family dinner but fortunately, he saved it and made it into bread pudding. Phew! My grandparents, uncle and parents loved it, of course!

We went to the new Tray Kitchen in Frelard tonight!

image We finally got to check out the new Tray Kitchen which opened this weekend near our house between Fremont and Ballard on Leary Way NW. (We had previously tried to go a week ago, before the restaurant was officially open!) I thought the cocktails were fun! image The steak tartare had interesting flavorimagebut Mr F wanted more salt. I thought the best part were the crispy and fresh micro greens! image We both really enjoyed the house made pancetta with the Brussels sprout salad and apples. image The black cod was nice but the dashi soy sauce dip really elevated it. We even dipped other dishes in it. Our ultimate favorite dish was the roasted cauliflower saladimagewith hazelnuts, drunken raisins (raisins soaked in white wine and something else amazing), micro greens and a few other awesome ingredients. image The Korean Fried Chicken wings were delightfully spicy but not a lot of meat and quite messy. They were still worth it and again, I loved the micro greens as a garnish. image The yummy pickled veggies included a green pickled cayenne pepper which was bitter but tasty. Mr. F’s favorite item was the salmon mousse with homemade chips!imageWhile these were all relatively small, dim-sum style dishes, they were pleasantly filling, so we decided to get dessert next time. (This is also another reason to go back soon!)

I’m looking forward to returning for their happy hour and when they start serving brunch in December. I hear they’ll have omelette options on trays (like the mousse and a few salad options that we didn’t get) and savory french toast.

They also had a great wine list with Washington, Oregon, French, Austrian, Italian, Grecian and even Lebanese wine. I even saw a Leonetti on their wall of options! I bet we’ll be back in the next month to try more dishes and wine!

Who wants to join us next time?
