A quick work trip to Irvine, CA

image This week, I had my first solo monitoring trip and I got to pick my co-monitor! I flew to Irvine, CA on Tuesday and met my good friend from training, Marie! We got to monitor together for the week! image I also met Marie’s boyfriend at Korean BBQ! I’ve missed KBQ. My cousin Katy used to take us to her favorite place in Chicago and I haven’t found a Korean BBQ place in Seattle, yet. Brian was an excellent grill master too! IMG_0004IMG_0009 After KBQ near Irvine, we drove to Newport Beach for Sprinkles cupcakes! I’ve been very curious about their Maple Bacon cupcake of the month! image I’m so glad Marie loves cupcakes too! IMG_0012 We loved the Maple Bacon cupcake.IMG_0013 It was a cupcake that tasted like pancakes with bacon and delicious maple buttercream. It also had an adorable pink candy pig on top! IMG_0014 We walked around Fashion Island, after dessert, enjoying the koi pond and IMG_0018all of the fountains! IMG_0040

Our first day on site was intense but we exceeded expectations! We spent over 10 hours at the clinic reviewing data! image Fortunately, we did take a quick lunch break image imageand then went to the Irvine-Spectrum for dinner.IMG_0054 I love walking around these gorgeous outdoor malls with their fountains, beautiful flora and boutiques. image For dinner, we got Chinese food at Capital Seafood. It was very nice to relax!

After a second long day of monitoring, image we celebrated in Laguna Beach. image  I told Marie that I wanted to see the ocean IMG_0067 and it was truly stunning. The Pacific Ocean is so much warmer and has really different sea life in Laguna Beach, compared to Seattle. Doesn’t this look like mermaid hair? IMG_0073 IMG_0074 IMG_0077imageWe also went to the best rated restaurant in Laguna Beach, called Three Seventy Common Kitchen + DrinkIMG_0084 We enjoyed a long and slow-paced dinner after our busy last few days, starting with a lovely meat and cheese platter. I loved the Humboldt Fog with honey, the pâté with arugula, and the salami.  IMG_0086 IMG_0090 IMG_0092 We also had soup, salad, summer squash, and pork loin with harissa BBQ, mac n’ cheese, with apple-sweet onion slaw. IMG_0093

Our last day of monitoring was a half day and we enjoyed a quick lunch at In N Out before I went to the airport! image image It was everything that I imagined and more. The animal style fries were phenomenal with their savory goodness. imageIt was an excellent first trip to this vintage culinary experience!

I had so much fun that I hope I can return to Irvine soon for work, or for fun!
