I’m here in Victoria watching the sunset from my 12th floor room overlooking the Empress and the Inner Harbor. I’m able to see the Olympic Mountains in Washington across the Strait of Juan de Fuca from my hotel room and the rolling Sooke Hills to the West.
The seaplane ride was stunning. Before I got on the plane, I mentioned to the pilot that it was my first seaplane trip, so he invited me to sit in the cockpit! It was breathtaking. I will post pictures this weekend when I get home.
I arrived at 6:30pm so I checked into the Marriott before wandering around downtown for dinner. My first stop was the Empress, where my parents once honeymooned. A coworker of mine, who used to live in Victoria, gave me several restaurant ideas. I walked by Pescatores, the Bard and Banker, and finally decided on Rebar. It was a delightful and lively vegetarian restaurant! After dinner, I walked along the harbor and by the Legislative buildings, but calling it an early night. I have a big day tomorrow and Friday. It’s my first co-monitoring experience!
