This week, we drove to the Washington Coast to visit my cousin, Katy! Katy’s family has a place in Seabrook, WA. It was the perfect weather. It was mostly sunny in the upper 60s to lower 70s with a strong wind close to the Pacific Ocean. When we arrived on Wednesday, we took a woodland hike down to the beach (and saw a tiny gnome village on the way) and had to bring a few layers to combat the wind. The tide was out and the water had warmed up along the shoreline. We saw a few sand dollars and razor clam shells, and Katy even saved a sand dollar by bringing it to deeper water. After wandering around the Main Street of Seabrook and the beach, we had a lovely dinner of grilled corn on the cob and chicken salad made by Katy’s mom, Penny. In the evening, we toured the Seabrook community and looked at all the Fourth of July decorations. There’s actually a contest for the best decorated house! The house across the street from us, won the People’s Choice award last year. My favorite house had mini cupcakes and popcorn out front. When we got back from our walk around Seabrook, we had rhubarb pie a la mode! Tomorrow I’ll post about our Fourth of July in Seabrook!
