What do I do?

Day 6, Monday: If you couldn’t answer with your job, how would you answer the question, ‘what do you do’?BlogEverday

I have a career in cancer research and I love it. I started at a dermatology clinic and was fascinated with melanoma. I was lucky enough to become a research coordinator for melanoma clinical trials 5 years ago and since then have learned a lot more about different cancers. My jobs have taken me to Boston, Barcelona, Chicago, and back to Seattle! I recently moved into a brand new role in clinical research and I’m learning about gout! I love meeting patients and doctors in clinical research because it really isn’t for everyone. It is truly amazing when a person wants to give back and try something experimental that may help them but more likely help many, many others by advancing research. Research is an awesome, scary, thrilling and constantly changing field. I love being on the people facing side of research but I have to give thanks to all the lab bench scientists who discover and tweak the compounds, viruses and vaccines that make up the clinical trials I am involved in. I love what I do especially since it is constantly changing!
